The 2nd Lanzarote Sessions - EP6
ISSUE 128: WFSIW From 13th June 2023: Session 6, Preachers
During a two week holiday on the Canary Island of Lanzarote, in June 2023, Trevor sat every day to transcribe spirit-inspired words. The following content is one of the collection of thirteen written during the stay. The photos are from Trevor’s collection taken during the duration.
DAY 6 MY PATIENCE WAS TESTED
|| Session 6 of 13
The photos I show you usually suggest that we holiday in an idyllic location, staying at beautiful villas on the frontline alongside the beach. That is all true. But other events can occasionally destroy that paradise, and in this holiday, that happened.
It was our third day at the villa and we were settled in for two weeks of peace and quiet. But that changed this morning when a local authority works vehicle reversed along the promenade in front of our villa. It stopped, two workers got out and immediately started to assemble wire fence barriers between the path and the beach, in the front of our villa. Shortly after, equipment, plant and materials were dumped inside of the new barrier area.
Our clear view was immediately impacted. The local authority were about to commence work in replacing all the prom lights with new ones. This involved two further heavy pieces of machinery arriving and our peace was completely shattered.
Over the remainder of the holiday we had to endure the awful sound of a jackhammer and an angle grinder every day for a number of hours. Of course, this meant there was dust involved and our tables on the patio needed constant cleaning.
Both Jane and I wore our noise cancelling headphones for much longer than we wanted to. My sitting for spirit sessions had to be arranged at short notice, when there were long enough gaps in the noise for me to work.
On the wall alongside where my meditation table was situated, there was a very nice piece of modern art hanging. During writing today’s session, I became aware of someone trying to get my attention. When I opened my eyes, during the actual writing session, I was asked by a passer-by if she could take a photo of the piece of art. Of course, I agreed. Moments later I returned to my session, hoping that the speaker would pick up from where they had left off.
Shortly after recommencing with the session, I was disturbed once more as one of the work lorries slowly reversed past our villa. The beep beeping was too much for me to ignore and so again, I had to stop.
I was so close to writing the session off, but for whatever reason, I continued. If you view the original notes pdf file for this session, you’ll read where I was interrupted. I’ve been doing this writing for some while and have built up a state of mind that once I’m in that zone, it is somewhat easy to re-join it if, as happened in this session, I have to get back into it.
[By the way: The villa owner probably was aware this work was to take place but did not inform us. Had he have done so, we would have cancelled our stay there. It goes without saying that we won’t be returning to this villa any time soon!]
