SOUNDS GOOD
One of my earliest fascinations in life was sound. Before my parents could afford to buy me a transistor radio, I used to have an old wind-up motor from a broken clock that I used to stick a bit of paper in the moving cogs to create a sound. I held it to my ear to listen to this strange noise.
My fascination with sound recording has followed me through my life. From recording things on an old reel-to-reel recorder, then progressing to the portable cassette recorder and nowadays with cutting edge equipment.
I’m a strong advocate for us mediums working on attuning our hearing to more of the sounds around us. There are thousands of sounds playing out at any given moment in time, most of which we dismiss, block out, or are not bothered on hearing.
I was excited that the speaker in this session chose to use sound as the subject of conversation. After transcribing the notes for this edition, I took the time to check out some of the incidents they were referring to and found evidence to support every claim made.
The speaker also referred to the music I listen to during meditations. I am fussy about what sounds to listen to for this purpose. In previous posts I have supplied links to, or actual pieces of music, I use. But like many aspects of our work, it is up to the individual to find their ideal music.
