It’s a brand new year, and we’re blessed to be here on Earth to experience it. Hopefully, some of us will undertake some goal-setting in the form of resolutions. Some of those should be based on your spiritual unfoldment. What it is you hope to achieve this year and how you intend to unfold more of your potential.
There are many ways we can sharpen our senses ready for better clarity needed for communicating with the other side. Often, you’ll be able to pick up a few tips and techniques at a local spiritual church workshop, online and in books. Tim Abbott has released two wonderful books primary based on simple, easy to follow exercises for the purpose of raising your personal standards of communication with the spirit world. Invest in yourself and get a copy.
If you don’t have any spare cash, there are still many things you can do to improve your sensitivity. Let us start with your hearing for example. Here is the link to a YouTube video in which you will hear many voices talking at the same time. Text on the screen will ask you questions about the voices as you listen.
This is hard work, but will help you sharpen your focus on one single voice whilst ignoring the others.
After you’ve attempted that one, perhaps something a little more quiet! Sit yourself down and close your eyes. Start by acknowledging all the sounds you can hear in the room. Listen very carefully. Closing your eyes will direct more of your focus to your hearing.
You should be able to recognise a few sounds around you. Perhaps a ticking clock, or the occasional creaking of a radiator cooling or heating up. You may notice you have a bit of tinnitus that’s now in your focus. You should be hearing your breathing. Challenge yourself to do this exercise until you can hear five different sounds.
Now expand your hearing to the world outside. The sounds of traffic, lawn mowers, aircraft overhead, birds, insects on the windows, wind and rain, Your goal should be to stick with it until you’ve recognised 20 sounds in total. Exercise over.
Internal and external hearing is important in mediumship work. Often we only have a split second to hear a message from the spirit world, a name or some detail that might be crucial evidence.
How about your eyesight? How much do you observe around you? I have a treat for you to try now. It’s another YouTube video for you to watch. This one will really prove how little you actually see.
One more for you, to cement my point!
Take a look at the following video and see how you do. Let me give you a clue. Look further than the question asks.
Ok - we’ve proved how little we actually see when we choose to only focus in a narrow point. Try this out instead. Sit yourself comfortably. Find the following items, without moving, that can be found around you and on sight:
a screw
a reflection
a metal nut
an LED
a single hair
a nail
a capital letter
the time
a zip
something chrome
How did you do? Struggled with the nail? Did you think of those on the end of your fingers? I never said what sort of nail!
One final sense I’m going to include is the one of touch, sensing if you like. Sit comfortable with your eyes closed. Breath through your nose only. Sense the air as you exhale as it caresses your hands and arms. Keep your focus on it until it is so obvious you can’t ignore it.
Related to sensing, get someone to help you with this one. Stand close to a wall with your eyes closed. Now ask the person with you to start from the opposite wall and to silently move very slowly towards your back. Tell them to stop moving when you first sense them. Now turn around and see how big your aura is!
The exercises I’ve included are just a few of the many things each of us can do every day to heighten our senses. What’s another word for a medium? A sensitive. So it makes sense to work on our sensitivity every moment we can. And it is great fun, if nothing else.
Don’t forget that your comments are always welcome. They always inspire me.
