The 2nd Lanzarote Sessions - EP2
ISSUE 124: WFSIW From 9th June 2023: Session 2 Comfort Zones
During a two week holiday on the Canary Island of Lanzarote, in June 2023, Trevor sat every day to transcribe spirit-inspired words. The following content is one of the collection of thirteen written during the stay. The photos are from Trevor’s collection taken during the duration.
DAY 2 SOMETIMES THE TRUTH HURTS
|| Session 2 of 13
During the preparation of this presentation, I realised an important aspect of these words that I transcribe from the higher self or the spirit communicator. That is, the message is often outside of my comfort zone. Let me explain.
We all love it when someone tells us something we want to hear. Something that flatters our ego perhaps, or a remark that suggests we’re important to the other person. So much of our communication with others involves sentiments that play to their egos, their good side. And we all love to receive them, especially if we’re sensitive!
Such remarks are really only landing in our emotional comfort zones. We learn nothing from them, only things that endorse how we want to be seen, to be heard, to seem to others.
Compare these two remarks you might hear from someone you respect.
“You’re looking younger than ever. You must tell me how you do it!”
Now you feel flattered and the person is elevated in your standing! But what if they said,
“You could do with spending a little less money on that hair and more on your education.”
Ouch! That was unnecessary. Now suddenly you’re put on the defence. That person has now gone down in your expectations. You feel narked, annoyed and self-conscious. But you know, as my Dad used to say to me, sometimes the truth hurts, doesn’t it!
At the very least, the messages I transcribe are coming from my higher self, which after all, is my spirit residing in the world of spirit. Of course, I believe that most are coming from a communicator within that same world. So do I want to be hearing remarks such as the first one all the time? Words that flatter me and only work to keep me in my comfort zone. Or do I really need to be hearing messages in the vein of the second example?
Would you rather your message from the other side was,
“Bill/Ann/Marianne/Judith/Tom/Kerry/ - you’re doing well in your unfoldment. You’re an amazing person, blah blah blah.”
Or would it be better if it were more productive?
“Time you pulled your finger out and opened that potential a little more. Find time to read, to learn and to practice your abilities. It’s your call you know.”
I am like so many of us, especially as I use age as an excuse more than ever. I like my comfort zones. But I am not entirely settled there. I know I have much to learn and to do. I know I have much more potential yet untapped. So I welcome the messages that make me think and inspire me to step out of my often too comfortable comfort zone!
